“I highly recommend Encinitas Automotive. I've been going to see Peter and Alex (and Peter's son, Marcello) since 2009. I chose them b/c they were recommended by AAA and my experiences have always been first-rate.
We continue to take our Acura, Lexus and Scion there, and previously they worked on our BMW and Ford vehicles. They are honest, trustworthy, do excellent work, and their prices are always better than fair. Highly recommended.”

“Love these guys! They are kind, honest and good natured. I took in my car because my check engine light came on and I was sure I was in for a doozy. Peter and his team diagnosed my problem -- which turned out to be just an error in my sensors. They told me that since everything looked ok, to just go to my cars dealer and buy a new gas cap, since that would be cheaper than having them do it. They said if I wanted, I could even bring it back to them and they would do it for me. I was ready to pay them for their time and diagnostics, but they told me 'not to worry' and didn't charge me a dime. I will definitely be back to them from here on out. What a great business model they have. Truly compassionate for the customer and honest, through and through!”

Got my car up and running as soon as they could, the serpentine belt was broken. Would recommend however, mainly because of the area, it is a little bit pricey, but you are paying for quality work!”

“I just want to share my brief but powerful experience over at Encinitas automotive. I recently got into an accident and took the car there for an inspection. Peter, the owner was gracious and helped me get clear on exactly what needed to be fixed about my car. He treated me well and was communicative.

Later I wanted to get a second opinion on fixing the car, and he gave me the inspection for no charge. There's a lot of integrity in this man and his shop and I highly recommend them for any of you looking for a good place to bring your car for repairs.”

“My brother(RIP) was a mechanic and would always walk me through car issues & repairs or ask to speak to my mechanics directly. Since he passed away & can't phone interview my potential mechanics, I have trust issues. I think every mechanic is shady or tries to take advantage of women. Yeah, I know, not healthy attitude. I have to say that Peter and his staff helped ease my concerns. I had the most pleasant experience with them today. I believe them to be honest and fair. The quote was accurate, and car was finished in a timely manner. I plan on doing business again with them. Hopefully next time will just be for routine maintenance.”

Peter and Alex have done outstanding work on our foreign and domestic cars and trucks without exception. They help us understand repair options and spend our dollars carefully. We have both new vehicles and some with close to 200,000 miles thanks to their good work. I have recommended them to many friends and none have been disappointed. They are friendly, plain spoken in explaining issues and always timely with repair completion. They have also been a good source of referral for auto work they do not do (e.g. body damage). Rating them five stars was a no-brainer.”

“Marcelo was awesome! My brakes were squeaking, so I figured a replacement was due. Upon bringing in my car, Marcelo advised me that my brakes were in fact fine, and that it wouldn't be worth replacing them until a later date. He went ahead and checked out the rest of my car, and found that everything was in order. I left without spending a penny, and with a good feeling. These guys are HONEST, and they won't charge you for looking at your car, as any good mechanic should. I'll be bringing my car back to get the brakes done when the time comes, and likely for any other services. Thanks for being honest guys, you rock.”

“I had a wonderful experience here! There was no sales tactics or beating around the bush. They checked out my car, found the problem right away, ordered the part, and fixed it all in the same day. When I asked for it to be done by a certain time, they did it. They forgot to add my oil change onto my total bill so instead of trying to charge me for it after the fact, they gave it to me for free. This is where I will be going from now on for everything I need done to my car.”

“Great work and legitimate honesty that I can verify. Had one ignition coil go out. Peter could have easily told me that I NEEDED to replace all of them right now and I would’ve been none the wiser and he would’ve made an extra few hundred dollars off me. He checked out my Jeep and told me everything was fine. Checked my alternator advised me to better get a diagnostic then switch it out because what if it's not even that. He was honest and said I didn't need any work. My car started up and I was a happy camper! I'm from the OC also just visiting so I'm glad I was treated well.”

“I recently went into Encinitas Automotive Repair for my truck as for some reason it would randomly not start. They saw me within 2 hours of my phone call and checked the battery, alternator, starter and told me had a loose connection. They tightened a few things and sent me on my way no charge within 10 minutes of showing up. Hard to find good people let alone trustworthy automotive shops these days. This place is awesome and friendly and I will always take my car needs there in the future. I highly recommend and thanks again!”

“GREAT SERVICE!!!! I worked closely with Peter at Encinitas Automotive Repair. He first helped me determine what kind of vehicle would be good to purchase with a higher mileage based on reliability. He was so kind and spoke to me for at least 20 mins. We ended buying a Ford Expedition that had a mechanical issue. When I brought Peter the vehicle to check out, he found that the engine needed new coils and did not charge us for the inspection. They got the coils replaced in less than a day and the charge was LESSS than the estimate. AMAZING! Our Ford Expedition runs perfectly now and I feel like Peter is the most fair and honest repair shop owner I have ever worked with. My mom has also been going to him for awhile as well as a few neighbors and coworkers. They all say Encinitas Automotive Repair is the best place they have been!”

I took my Prius V in for a service, with the assurance I could pick it up that afternoon. Marcello called when he said he would (this never happens with my car repairs) and when I returned for the car he gave me a comprehensive break-down of it's condition--what was needed and when. He made suggestions but did not insist on further maintenance (and more money) until a later date. My car is running great now. “My 17 year old daughter was on a trip to Encinitas this past week when our Chevy Tahoe had some issues. After roadside assistance came out to replace the battery, they indicated more work was probably necessary to safely drive the car back to Northern CA. I called a few places and was fortunate enough to speak with Carlos at Encinitas Auto! He was extremely helpful and accommodating. He was quick to answer questions, give me an estimate and complete the work in a timely manner. If I was a local resident, I would definitely take all my cars to Encinitas Auto!!!”

“Don't you just love when your mechanic calls you and says "Good news! Absolutely nothing is wrong with your car!". This happened to me last week with Peter @ Encinitas Automotive. My check engine light was on. I had just gotten an oil change and usually that fixed the light bc my car is only 3 years old. So mucho props to my man Peter for checks no out the problem, finding nothing, turning light off & charging me nothing! My husband and I have been taking our cars to him for the last decade and have found fair prices and quick service every time.”

“I've had a string of bad luck recently with two auto accidents among other things. I thought my bad luck streak was continuing when I was driving back from Irvine from a day of camping on the coast. As I was heading down the 5 my suddenly shut off. All power was lost. No power steering, no breaks, no engine. The battery had completely died. Fortunately traffic was slow and I was able to roll to the left shoulder and called AAA. Fortunately for us AAA dropped us off at this location. The owner (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was incredibly friendly and helpful. We agreed to the diagnostic fee and he informed us it might take a day or two since they were about to close. After a quick diagnosis they found the battery terminal actually came loose and that was it! They even did a quick batter test for us to make sure everything was in good health. Owner was super friendly and waived all fees and wished us a safe trip home. Now that's service!! Highly recommend the honestly and integrity of the owner and the people that work here.”

I was driving home from SD to LA yesterday and my engine started smoking on the 5 freeway, I yelped Peter's auto shop and saw good reviews and went to him right away. He inspected my vehicle and took really good care of me. I was very distressed and not sure if I was going to make it home in my '99 Toyota Camry but he made sure I felt safe and could make it home safely and gave me advice on how to take care of it.

“I took two separate land cruisers in, one for brakes and then one for mis-firing issue. They did a fantastic job on the brakes for the 1998. On the mis-firing problem they checked everything and boiled it down to the Electronic Control Unit. The cost for the unit was around $1200 and they were very honest in saying that they had no way for certain to ensure this was the problem, but would do the work. They went as far as to recommend going to the dealer just to be safe. This is an amazing shop, very honest and super knowledgeable. I will be taking all other cars back when they need service.”

Alex was very friendly and inspected all of the things I listed I thought might have problems with. I will use them again.”

“They are open on the weekend, just call and confirm. I went to get a diagnostic test done since there was a light on my car. They told me it was on because I hadn't put the gas cap correctly. They taught me how to do it and they did not charge me. I will definitely be going back if anything comes up in my car again.”

“Oil pressure gauge light was on in my car for the last couple of months. In addition to that, the gauge needle was jumping around from 0 to Max rapidly. So, I thought it was the time to go and have someone check it out.

The problem was about the oil pressure gauge switch. I took my car there in the morning and a few hours later it was ready to go. Peter was nice and helpful. Hopefully not, but if I have to go to a repair shop anytime in near future, I would come back here again.”

“Wow ! ! Where to begin. I honestly was so apprehensive about going anywhere and being "ripped off" like so many other times in my life, as a woman and no knowledge of auto repair work AND even calling every friend for advise -- No one could recommend anyone, except for my boss said to "YELP" As he is from Boston and only goes on yelp to find any service. I have never before... BUT will from now on. Not only am I a single very hard working mom but have had nothing but being "taken" all my life because of it. So now to make a long story short-- I first called and spoke with Alex... who was so nice and accommodating and got me right in. “Encinitas Auto was a lifesaver. My alternator died late on a Thurs. night (in the middle of traffic in a turn lane) and per AAA's recommendation, the car was towed to Encinitas Auto. I received a call first thing the next morning, the situation was assessed, and the alternator replaced. They also made some suggestions for other things that needed repaired; such as, new brake pads and a much needed oil change. They had my car back to me by 12:30 that day in time for me to pick up the car and make my flight for the weekend.
